"School is the advertising agency which makes you believe you need the society as it is." Illichless than a minute ago via Twittelator

"Man now defines himself as the furnace which burns up the values produced by his tools." Illichless than a minute ago via Twittelator

Illich ends this book by describing the story of the brothers Prometheus and Epimetheus and how up until now we have been a society ruled by Promethian technologies and how by deschooling ourselves and rediscovering our true selves we will become the rebirth of "Epimethan Man."

Thank you Seymour Papert for recommending this book. This truly was a thought-provoking read and one that each teacher should read at some point in their professional development when they are ready to "deschool" themselves.
