I met Steve Dembo (@teach42) briefly at the ISTE Conferfence in Denver this summer hanging out in the Blogger's Cafe. What I remembered about him was his energy and regretted not being able to make it to any of his sessions there. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that he would be attending this year's TIES conference and made sure to make up for what I missed in Denver. What follows is an archive of my live tweets from his session:
#ties10 Dembo: Do you have your nuggets yet?
#ties10 Dembo; problem educators have with web2 is a problem of schemas..we tend to build what is on the front of the box
#ties10 Dembo: once kids have experienced a technology they expect to experience it everywhere
#ties10 Dembo: the classroom is not going to change all that much, the shift will be what happens at those desks
#ties10 Dembo: If we are giving our students nothing but step-by-step instructions we are crippling them
#ties10 Dembo: the mouse is increasingly going to be a useless peripheral device
#ties10 Dembo: how many kids will be hiding their iPod touches in their backpacks when they could be using them to document their learning?
#ties10 Dembo: "I no longer give my students assignments, I give them creative briefs."
